Best Man Speech -How To Write The Best Speech

Any wedding is incomplete without a speech from the best man. A best man is usually the best friend of the groom or he is the groom’s brother. A best man is required to give a speech which can be anywhere between 5 to 7 minutes long.
As the best man has a lot of happy memories with the groom and is very close to him as well, giving a speech should not be too difficult a task. Remember that the key to any good speech is originality.

If you are the best man and do not have any idea how to prepare that speech which is expected of you, fear not! Just follow these simple guidelines and there is no reason why your speech should not be memorable.

Always remember that a speech should be well timed, so it will help you a great deal if you are confident as to how much time can be allotted to the speech.
It always helps to talk to the groom beforehand and come to know about his feelings. So that you can incorporate some of the grooms feelings into your speech.
When standing up for the speech smile, it helps a great deal if you start off positively.
Introduce yourself; just a short introduction will suffice not need to go into lengthy details. We do not have so much time.
Start by thanking the groom for choosing you as the best man.
Thank the people who could make it to the wedding. Remember some of them have traveled a great distance just to be there, so it would earn you brownie points to make a special mention of them.
Thank all the people you helped you out with the wedding preparations.
Thank the bridesmaids, as they have played a key part too.
Praise the bride; mention how beautiful she is and how lucky your friend is to have married her.
You can recount any incident about you and the groom. There will no doubt be many memories which both of you shared together, pick any one of them.
While picking any incident, do remember that there are many people listening to you so be respectful of your audience and try not to embarrass the groom.
You can use one liners or jokes as long as they are in good taste.
If there are any funny quirks of your friend you can mention them too. But make sure they don’t embarrass him. For example-you could tell people how he has the tendency to keep drumming his fingers if he is getting impatient.
Let the newly weds know how happy you are for them.
Wish them luck
End your speech by raising a toast to them.
